  • An Unorthodox Beginner's Guide to Reclaiming Your Life and Our Battered World from the Technological Devolution.

In "How to Fight the (Wrong) Future," former bookseller Heather Jane Johnson seeks to bring readers the books, thinkers, and research which contribute to the growing body of evidence that the Technological Revolution has brought us more harm than good. Weaving in bits of her personal history as a technological refugee, Johnson utilizes her voracious love of books and writers, and her experiences in Italy as an American ex-pat, to place the current era of greed and excess, most concentrated in the hands of Big Tech, into historical context. What was meant to be a Pax Americana of greater connection and freedom, has indeed brought the return of Empire, and all of the bad habits that go with it. While laying the groundwork that without intervention we are all barrelling towards the collapse of that new Empire and the unsuing Dark Age that followed the collapse of the previous one, Johnson also attempts to present a few Davids of the past who have defeated corrupt Goliaths, and in the process puts forth a "collaborative action" plan that kids, teenagers, and any lover of Star Wars will find not only actionable, but hopefully fun. Nobody ever said fighting the wrong future needs to be depressing, and if done right, it could even be, heaven help us, fun.
